NCAA Tournament 2011: Kansas Tops Boston University, 72-53

John Holland and the Boston University Terriers gave it all they had, but it wasn't enough to overcome a powerhouse like Kansas. Holland finished with a game-high 19 points, but the Terriers fell to the Jayhawks, 72-53, in the second round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament on Friday night in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Kansas (36-2) advances to face the winner of No. 8 UNLV and No. 9 Illinois in the Round of 32 on Saturday or Sunday. The win was the Jayhawks' first since losing to Northern Iowa last year in the second round of the tournament last season.

Marcus and Markieff Morris teamed up to down the Terriers (24-15), who had their 11-game winning streak snapped with the loss. Marcus Morris scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Markeef Morris added 15 points and eight rebounds. Brady Morningstar scored 13 points and had five boards and Tyshawn Taylor added 10 points and seven assists for the Jayhawks.

The Jayhawks made 29-of-57 field goals (50.9%) and 9-of-20 threes (45%) while totaling 27 rebounds, 19 assists, six steals and 14 turnovers. 

D.J. Irving scored 11 points and had five rebounds and five assists for Boston University, which was held to 35.3% shooting (18-for-51) and 36% shooting from three-point range (9-for-25). Darryl Partin and Dom Morris both scored nine points and Matt Griffin scored three points off the bench for the Terriers.

Boston University falls to 2-7 in seven appearances in the NCAA Tournament with the loss.
