Malcolm Delaney scored 15 points to lead the No. 6 seed Virginia Tech Hokies past the No. 11 seed Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 59-43, on Thursday night in the first round of the 2011 ACC Tournament in Greensboro, N.C.
Virginia Tech (20-10) took a 39-19 lead into halftime but were outscored by the Yellow Jackets, 24-23, in the second half. Nevertheless, it was far too late for Georgia Tech (13-18) to make a comeback, which never led in the game.
