ACC Tournament 2011: Boston College Routs Wake Forest, 81-67

Reggie Jackson scored 27 points and had six assists as No. 5 seed Boston College routed No. 12 seed Wake Forest, 81-67, on Thursday afternoon in the first round of the 2011 ACC Tournament in Greensboro, N.C.

Boston College (20-11) advances to face No. 5 seed Clemson in the quarterfinals on Friday at 2 p.m. EST.

The Eagles built a 15-12 lead with 11:13 left in the opening half and used a 32-17 run to close out the half and take a 47-31 advantage into the intermission.

"I thought we got off to a good start, which has been important to us during this four game winning streak," said Boston College Steve Donahue.

BC scored the first five points of the second half and built the lead up to 21 points, 66-45, with 12:10 remaining, but the Demon Deacons fought back to bring the game within 13 points, 70-57, with 8:06 to go. BC regained its composure and closed out the game on an 11-10 run to seal its fourth straight win.

Joe Trapani scored 22 points and had six rebounds for Boston College, which shot 43.5% from the field and 31.3% from three-point range. Biko Paris added 21 points and Corey Raji added five points and 11 rebounds.

"This is all about trying to advance and win the ACC Tournament," Donahue said. "Obviously, we'll get some rest and prepare for Clemson."

Travis McKie led the Demon Deacons with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Gary Clark and J.T. Terrell each scored 15 points and Nikita Mescheriakov added 13 points off the bench for Wake Forest, which was held to 43.5% shooting.
