Boston College Vs. Stony Brook: TV/Radio Info, History And More

Patrick Heckmann and the Boston College Eagles look to end their losing stream against the Stony Brook Seawolves on Sunday afternoon at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, MA.

Event: Stony Brook Seawolves (3-4) vs. Boston College Eagles (2-7).

Date/Time: Sunday, December 11, 2011 - 5:00 p.m. EDT.

Location: Silvio O. Conte Forum (Capacity: 8,606), Chestnut Hill, MA.

Broadcast Info: Sunday's game between the Eagles and Seawolves will be aired live on NESN, with Bob Rathburn and Mike Gminski on the broadcast. The game can also be heard on the WEEI Sports Radio Network (93.7 FM/850 AM), with Jon Meterparel on play-by-play duty and Malcolm Huckaby providing color analysis.

Series History: Boston College and Stony Brook have only played three times, with the Eagles winning all three games. The last game between the Eagles and Seawolves took place in 2007, with BC winning 59-47. The two teams first met back in the 2002-03 season, with BC winning 79-61. BC has won each game by double-digits.

Where They Stand: Boston College (2-7) has not yet played an Atlantic Coast Conference game and currently sits in last place (12th out of 12) in the ACC. Stony Brook (3-4) also hasn't played a conference game and is tied for fourth in the America East Conference.

Last Time Out: BC was defeated by Providence, 64-57, in its last game on Thursday night. Ryan Anderson scored 16 points, Patrick Heckmann added 12 points and Dennis Clifford finished with 10 points and six rebounds.

Stony Brook had a big win over the Farleigh Dickinson Knights, 70-46, on December 7. Dave Coley had 16 points and Bryan Dougher added 16 points. Dallis Joyner added eight points and eight rebounds in the Seawolves' win.

Statistical Leaders: Patrick Heckmann is BC's leading scorer, averaging 11.3 points. Matt Humphrey is second on the team in scoring. Dennis Clifford leads the team in rebounding with 5.3 boards per game. Heckmann also leads the team with 2.0 assists per game.

Bryan Dougher averages a team-best 11.6 points per game for Stony Brook. Tommy Brenton leads the team in rebounding (7.7 RPG) and also leads the team in assists (3.9 APG).

Storyline: For BC, the story continues to be the growth of a very young team. There hasn't been much progress for the Eagles, who have only won two games this season, but BC showed a glimpse of improvement against Providence. BC ultimately lost the game, but the Eagles hung around for the majority of the contest, and players like Ryan Anderson and Dennis Clifford showed some major improvement. BC should improve over time, but for now, it will be a bumpy ride.

Prediction: Despite BC's winning streak over Stony Brook, the Eagles are not as talented a team as they were through the first part of the century. The game should be close, but I expect the Seawolves to win. Final Score: Stony Brook 68, Boston College 62.
