CHESTNUT HILL - Boston College opened the second half with a touchdown after Florida State fumbled on the opening drive of the third quarter, but it was far too little and far too late for the Eagles, who fell behind by 28 in the first half. At the end of three quarters, the Eagles trail the Seminoles, 31-7, at Alumni Stadium.
BC's touchdown came on a 12-yard pass from Chase Rettig to Bobby Swigert with 9:56 left in the second half. The score capped off a six-play, 26-yard drive spanning 3:07. However, without much surprise, Florida State responded with a field goal late in the quarter - a 47-yard strike from Dustin Hopkins - with 4:43 left in the quarter, putting the Seminoles up 31-7.
At the start of the fourth quarter, FSU quarterback E.J. Manuel has thrown for 151 yards and a score while BC quarterbacks Chase Rettig (70 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) and Josh Bordner (37 passing yards 41 rushing yards) have split time under center.
