Boston College Vs. Florida State: Eagles Trailing 7-0 After First Quarter

Both teams went three and out on their opening drives, but Boston College fumbled away the ball inside their own ten yard line, leading to an early Florida State touchdown, and the Seminoles held onto the 7-0 lead through the end of the first quarter at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, MA.

E.J. Manuel (3-of-4 passing, 36 yards) found Bert Reed for an eight yard touchdown, capping off a two-play, two-yard drive that spanned just over one minute to put the Seminoles up early with 9:07 left in the opening quarter.

BC had some success on defense in the first quarter, with Steele DiVitto and Manny Asprilla recording sacks on Manuel. However, the Eagles couldn't convert once they got the ball back, but in reality, it could have been a lot worse for BC.

Chase Rettig had three completions for eight yards in the first quarter. Rolandan Finch had four rushing yards on seven carries and the Eagles' posted -11 rushing yards in the quarter against the No. 1 rush defense in the ACC.
