Boston College used a 10-0 run late in the second half to cut the New Mexico lead to 10 points, 64-54, but the Lobos closed out the game on an 11-3 run to finish off the Eagles and post a 75-57 victory in the fifth place game of the 76 Classic at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA.
Matt Humphrey scored 12 points on 3-of-18 shooting to lead the Eagles, who made 20-of-57 shots (35.1 percent) in the loss. Lonnie Jackson also scored 12 points off the bench and both Patrick Heckmann and John Cahill scored six points a piece for Boston College.
Drew Gordon led all scorers with 21 points for the Lobos, who shot 56.9 percent from the floor (29-for-51). Tony Snell added 13 points and Kendall Williams scored 10 points. Jamal Fenton totaled nine points and Demetrius Walker finished with eight points off the bench.
Boston College returns home to host the Penn St. Nittany Lions on Wednesday night.
