76 Classic 2011: Boston College Battles New Mexico For Fifth Place

Boston College concludes its play in the 76 Classic with the fifth-place game against the New Mexico Lobos at 4:00p.m. EDT (TV/Radio: ESPNU/WEEI) on Sunday afternoon at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA.

The Eagles and Lobos have never played before, and New Mexico has only played 14 games against the Atlantic Coast Conference in school history. In those 14 games, the Lobos are 4-9.

Boston College (2-3) is coming off of a hearty 66-62 overtime victory over the UC Riverside Highlanders. Patrick Heckmann led the charge for BC, scoring a career-high 32 points to lead a second-half comeback. The Eagles had lost to the Saint Louis Billikes, 62-51, in the opening round o the 76 Classic on Thanksgiving Day.

New Mexico (3-2) is coming off a 72-62 win over the Washington State Cougars on Friday after falling to the Santa Clara Broncos, 79-76 in overtime, in the opening round of the 76 Classic. Tony Snell finished with 21 points and five rebounds and Kendall Williams totaled 17 points and seven rebounds for New Mexico, which shot 43.6 percent from the field.

Sunday's game will be televised nationally on ESPNU, with Mark Neely providing play-by-play and Miles Simon providing analysis. The game will also be streamed on ESPN3.com. Check out the Lobos pregame notes as well.
