Boston College 66, UC Riverside 62 (OT): Patrick Heckmann Leads Eagles Comeback

Patrick Heckmann scored 21 of his career-high 32 points in the second half and helped the Boston College Eagles erase a seven-point deficit to force overtime and eventually defeat the UC Riverside Highlanders, 66-62, in overtime in a consolation game at the 76 Classic tournament inside the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA.

Boston College (2-3) took an early 12-8 lead but surrendered the lead late in the opening half, ultimately falling behind 26-23 at halftime. The Eagles outscored the Highlanders, 33-30, in the second half and 10-6 in the overtime period. BC shot 40.4 percent for the game (19-for-47) while UC Riverside shot 39.3 percent from the field (22-for-56).

Matt Humphrey scored 11 points, but only made 2-of-10 shots from the field. Humphrey was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line and hit two clutch free throws at the end of overtime to seal the victory. Heckmann was also tremendous at the line, drilling 10-of-10 free throws. As a team, Boston College made a season-high 22-of-25 free throws.

Phil Martin scored 11 points on 5-of-12 shooting for the Highlanders. Harrison Gaines scored 11 points off the bench and Kareem Nitoto added 10 points and seven rebounds in the loss for UC Riverside.

Boston College will play in the consolation brack final on Sunday at 4 p.m. (ESPNU).
