Patrick Heckmann hit a three-pointer in the closing seconds of the first half as the Boston College Eagles entered halftime trailing the UC Riverside Highlanders, 26-23, in the 76 Classic at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA.
Heckmann finished the half with 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting for the Eagles, who shot 39.2 percent (9-for-23) as a team in the opening half. KC Caudill had six points and two rebounds and Dennis Clifford, Jordan Daniels and Ryan Anderson each scored two points apiece for Boston College.
Phil Martin led all scorers with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field. Harrison Gaines had four points off the bench and four players (B.J. Shearry, Kareem Nitoto, Elliott Berry and David Chavarria) had two points for UC Riverside. The Highlanders shot 44.4 percent in the first half, making 12-of-27 field goals and going 0-for-1 from long distance.
