Boston College Vs. Notre Dame: Valiant Effort, But Eagles Lose 16-14

The Boston College Eagles entered tonight's game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as 24.5 point underdogs on the road. After Notre Dame jumped out to an early 10 point lead – just six minutes into the game – a blowout looked likely. However; Chase Rettig and the Eagles bounced back to cut the lead to 13-7 at half and hung with the Fighting Irish for the rest of the game. Down nine, they scored a touchdown to cut the lead to two with 1:57 remaining, failed to recover and onside kick, but got the ball back with eight seconds remaining. A desperate hook and ladder-type play to go 80 yards for the win was thwarted by the Golden Domers D after a few laterals as the clock ticked zero. With the loss the Eagles fall to 3-8 on the season.

Rettig finished the game 18 of 38 for 174 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. Boston College finished the game without a turnover.

The Eagles finish the season at Miami (FL) next week. Despite only having two FBS wins on the season, they have been relatively competitive in the previous four contests, outside of a 31-point beatdown at the hands of Florida State.
