Harvard-Yale Football Tailgate Tragedy: Truck Collision Kills One

Tragedy struck Saturday morning, not long before Harvard and Yale football were scheduled to meet in the 128th edition of "The Game."

A truck struck three people, killing one, shortly after 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Harvard-Yale tailgate. A 30-year old woman was killed by the collision and another victim was hospitalized in serious but stable condition, New Haven Police Department spokesman David Hartman told the Yale Daily News. All three victims were taken to a hospital for treatment.

A U-Haul truck entered the parking lot where the tailgate was being held, and accelerated into a group of people before colliding with a smaller U-Haul, Hartman said. Students told the Yale Daily News that police were seen administering CPR on one of the victims for 10 minutes. The parking lot where the incident occurred has been closed off and is being treated as a crime scene, but the rest of the tailgate resumed.
