CHESTNUT HILL - Ryan Anderson leads all scorers with 10 points and seven rebounds and Patrick Heckmann added eight points, including a buzzer-beating three-pointer at the end of the half, as Boston College took a 30-23 lead over New Hampshire entering halftime of the Eagles' season opener on Monday night.
Both teams struggled from the field in the opening half, with BC making 9-of-30 shots (30 percent shooting) and UNH knocking down 8-of-27 field goals (29.6 percent). In addition, the Eagles struggled at the free throw line, hitting only half of their shots (8-of-16). UNH was 7-of-12 from the free-throw line.
Matt Humphrey made two three-pointers and Dennis Clifford scored four points and had three rebounds. Gabe Moton was particularly off stride in the opening half for BC, missing all three shots he took and two free throws.
Jordon Bronner leads all Wildcats with nine points and Chandler Rhoads had eight points.
