The young Boston College Eagles tip off their college basketball season Monday night, when they host the UNH Wildcats at 7 p.m.
The Eagles have nine freshmen and return just four players from last year. Sophomore Danny Rubin, who averaged 4.1 points last year as a freshman, is the team's leading returning scorer.
In BC's only scrimmage, freshmen Dennis Clifford and Patrick Heckmann combined for 33 points to lead the way to a 70-66 victory against American International College. Graduate student John Cahill drained all three of his three-point attempts, finishing with nine points.
The Eagles were picked to finished 12th out of 12 teams in the ACC.
New Hampshire beat Division III Suffolk in its season opener Friday night. Alvin Abreu scored 19 points and Brian Benson added 17 as the Wildcats withstood a slight scare to emerge with an 85-64 victory.
