Boston College may not be ranked on the gridiron, but it is tied for the No. 2 ranking in the country in student-athlete Graduation Success Rate (GSR) in all sports among FBS schools with Duke, with both schools possessing a 97 percent GSR. Notre Dame has the top GSR in the country with an astounding 99 percent of all student-athletes graduating.
"We are very proud that our program is among the top three in the nation in terms of graduating our student-athletes," Director of Athletics Gene DeFilippo said. "Congratulations to our student-athletes for a job well done."
BC had 21 sports teams record a perfect 100 percent GSR, which is the most amount of teams with a perfect rating among all FBS division schools. According to the school, this is the third straight year that it led the nation with the most teams to record perfect scores. The Eagles' football team recorded a 93 perfect GSR, making it one of only six FBS programs in the country to have 90 percent or more of its players graduate.
Among the Boston College teams to record perfect scores were "men's baseball, fencing, golf, skiing, sailing, swimming, tennis along with women's basketball, cross country/track, rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, ice hockey, sailing, skiing, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis and volleyball" (per BC Media Relations).
