UPSET ALERT: Boston College Leads Virginia Tech 7-6 at Halftime

Boston College jumped out to a 7-0 lead with only three minutes gone by in the first quarter. The twelfth-ranked Virginia Tech quickly answered with a field goal to cut Boston College's lead to 7-3 and added another field goal to end the half.

Virginia Tech has averaged a healthy 31 points per game this season and Boston College has allowed nearly 26 per game. But somehow the Eagles find themselves clinging to a 7-6 halftime lead – in Blacksburg, nonetheless.

BC quarterback Chase Rettig – who is responsible for the game's only touchdown – is 9-18 for 142 yards through the air. He has a total of -7 yards rushing, on four attempts, but his touchdown came on the ground.

Boston College has accumulated 149 total yards, compared to 201 for Virginia Tech. Neither team has a turnover and there's only been on penalty called, for five yards.

It's worth noting again that Boston College is a 21-point underdog. The second half of the game can be found on ESPN3.
