Boston College Vs. Virginia Tech: Eagles Still In Search Of First FBS Win

Boston College travels to Blacksburg, Virginia on Saturday, in search of the Eagles' first Football Bowl Subdivision win this season against the Virginia Tech Hokies.

The Eagles defeated UMass earlier this season, but have lost all five games against FBS opponents. The latest defeat came at Clemson, where BC quickly fell behind by 17 points and never recovered.

"They got rocket-shipped out of there at 17-0 really fast," Boston College coach Frank Spaziani told reporters after the game.

BC has qualified for a bowl game in each of the last 12 seasons, but that streak is in serious jeopardy. With two more losses in the remaining six games, BC's season will end earlier than usual.

Beating Virginia Tech is never an easy task. BC has lost three straight against the Hokies, including a 19-0 loss on Sept. 25 last season. Virginia Tech leads the all-time series 13-6, and Frank Beamer's squad is characteristically strong again this season, with a 6-1 record stained only by a loss against No. 7-ranked Clemson.
