Boston College Vs. Wake Forest: Demon Deacons Lead, 17-9, At Half

CHESTNUT HILL - Jimmy Newman opened the second quarter with a 22-yard field goal to put his team up by 10, and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons lead the Boston College Eagles, 17-9, at the end of the first half.

Newman's field goal came with 13:41 left in the second quarter and capped off a seven-play, 76 yard drive that spanned 4:11. Boston College answered with a field goal of its own, as Nate Freese connected on his second field goal of the game, this time from 45-yards out, to cut the Eagles' deficit to 10-6 with 6:18 to play in the half.

Brandon Pendergrass scored the Demon Deacons second touchdown of the day, rushing in for a one-yard score with 1:04 remaining to put Wake Forest up 17-6. The score capped off a 12-play, 73 yard drive that lasted over five minutes.

Freese hit his second field goal with eight seconds left in the half, splitting the uprights on a career-long 52-yard field goal. Freese is now 5-of-6 on the season on field goals from 40 yards or longer.

Chase Rettig threw for 72 yards and Montel Harris, who entered the game needing 99 yards to notch the school's career rushing record, has 64 yards on nine carries through the first half for Boston College. Tanner Price has thrown for 146 yards and Josh Harris has rushed for  43 yards in the game for Wake Forest.
