Ray Allen Rumors 2012: Allen To Visit Heat, Clippers To Hear Pitches

New, 1 comment

The Boston Celtics have put together a solid effort to resign veteran shooting guard Ray Allen, the campaign however will need to go through a bit of a waiting period as NBA.com's David Aldridge is reporting Allen will make visits to the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers, respectively.

According to Aldridge, Allen will visit Miami on Thursday and the Clippers on Friday to hear both franchise's pitches that could entice him to move away from Boston. Allen also held conference calls with the Memphis Grizzles and Minnesota Timberwolves, but hasn't scheduled visits.

The biggest issue, says Aldridge, is money:

The Heat can only offer Allen their mini mid-level exception that starts at $3.09 million next season, the same exception Miami used last year to sign free-agent forward Shane Battier. The Clippers have their full mid-level available at $5 million. Boston has offered Allen a two-year deal for $12 million.

Both the Heat and Clippers are expected to also offer a starting job for Allen, who last season was pushed to the bench by the Celtics -- something that didn't sit well with the 36-year-old.
