Celtics Free Agency 2012: Ray Allen, Jeff Green Update

The Boston Celtics aren't just standing around and waiting for something to fall their way in this 2012 NBA free agency period.

General manager Danny Ainge has been aggressive even after locking up Kevin Garnett. It looked as though Ray Allen was all but out the door a week ago, but now it seems he may stay a while, according to SI.com.

The Miami Heat are well-documented pursuers of Allen, but are only able to offer three years and $9 million, while the Celtics can pony up with a two-year, $12 million contract. Nothing is a sure thing, but Boston would seem to have a clear advantage in that race.

Jeff Green is coming off of open-heart surgery that forced him to miss all of last season and perhaps jeopardize his future. However, Boston looks like they may bring him back.

Green is still just 25-years-old and could be a nice piece for the future. Don't expect a deal just yet though with more pressing matters like Allen going on. Green might have to wait his turn in the free agency process, but all signs point to a deal thus far for the two parties.
