Jason Terry Signing: Boston Celtics Send Press Release

Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe reported earlier Wednesday that the Celtics had signed veteran guard Jason Terry to a mid-level deal. Now the Celtics have sent out a press release announcing the signing, with President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge having this to say about Terry:

"Jason is one of the best sixth men in the NBA and his versatility in the backcourt is a great addition to our roster."

Terry averaged just over 15 points a game for the Dallas Mavericks last season and is best known for his 2009 Sixth Man of the Year award and his role in the Mavs' 2011 NBA Championship. Terry shot close to 38 percent from beyond the 3-point line (around his career average) last season. For his career, Terry has averaged 16.1 points, 4.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

Here are his comments:

"The Celtics have such a great tradition of winning and it was something that drew me to the team right away. I look forward to getting out onto the court and helping this team in its pursuit of another banner."
