NBA free agency is underway, and the Boston Celtics will be actively trying to make tweaks to their roster as they try to re-tool for another championship run. It became apparent that the Celtics weren't ready to rebuild with the reported news that Kevin Garnett is returning on a three-year deal, signifying that their sights are still set on banner 18.
The two biggest questions for the Celtics heading into free agency are Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, but with the news that Garnett is back in the fold, our attention transitions to Allen. Multiple reports have cited the Miami Heat as very interested in Allen's services, but the Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns and now the Memphis Grizzlies are, too.
Outside of Garnett and Allen, the Celtics have 10 free agents, leaving them with only five players -- Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley, JaJuan Johnson and E'Twaun Moore -- under contract for the 2012-13 season and beyond. Aside from Allen, the Celtics will have to determine what to do with Brandon Bass, Greg Stiemsma, Keyon Dooling, Mickael Pietrus, Marquis Daniels, Jeff Green, Ryan Hollins, Sean Williams and Sasha Pavlovic.
The free agency period officially began at midnight on Sunday (July 1, 2012).
