Celtics Offseason 2012: Greg Stiemsma Given Qualifying Offer By Boston

The Boston Celtics have made a qualifying offer to center Greg Stiemsma, reportedly worth north of $1 million, which will make him a restricted free agent (via Boston Herald).

Stiemsma appeared in 55 games for the Celtics last season (3 starts) and averaged 2.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in 13.9 minutes per game. He also made 19 postseason appearances for Boston but only played 7.5 minutes per game. Plantar fasciitis in his left foot slowed him down at the end of the season.

The Celtics did add some depth at the center position in the 2012 NBA Draft when they picked Fab Melo from Syracuse. The C's were also busy signing players on Friday to fill the roster for their summer league team. The summer league will begin next weekend in Orlando and Las Vegas.
