NBA Draft Results 2012: Andre Drummond Drafted No. 9 Overall By Detroit Pistons

NEWARK - Andre Drummond, the 6-foot-10 center from the Connecticut Huskies, was drafted No. 9 overall by the Detroit Pistons in the 2012 NBA Draft on Thursday night at the Prudential Center. Drummond played one season at Connecticut and established himself as a top tier center.

Drummond averaged 10.0 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.7 blocks this season for the Huskies. In addition, Drummond shot 53.8 percent from the field and averaged 28.5 minutes per game in his lone collegiate season.

While not comparable to No. 1 overall pick Anthony Davis, Drummond has drawn high praise for his athleticism. For a player as big as he is, nearly seven feet tall and 270 pounds, he moves very well up and down the court. His offensive game needs work, according to scouts, but he has the potential to become a solid player.
