Ray Allen Free Agency Rumors 2012: Suns Will Pursue Celtics Guard, According To Report

The Phoenix Suns will pursue Boston Celtics guard Ray Allen in free agency, sources tell Yahoo! Sports. Allen has reportedly shown interest in the Suns, with or without point guard Steve Nash. Phoenix is expected to have a lot of room under the salary cap, and could off more money than Allen's two most talked-about suitors, the Miami Heat and the New York Knicks.

Allen also has a direct connection with the Suns. President Lon Babby used to be Allen's agent before he began running basketball operations for Phoenix.

The Heat have been reported as Allen's most likely destination recently. Sources told Yahoo! Sports that while there is mutual interest, the Heat do not currently lead for Allen's services. The 37-year-old sharshooter is still very much interested in re-joining the Celtics, and Boston will no doubt be in contact with him and free agent Kevin Garnett.
