NEWARK - The stage is set, the test run has been completed, and we're almost ready to roll here inside the Prudential Center, the site of the 2012 NBA Draft, which begins at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday night. Oh, right, where are my manners... hello and welcome to the draft!
Right now, the room is quiet, with some staff members working away to make sure everything goes right when the draft begins and the nation tunes in. Let me tell you, the arena looks fantastic. See for yourself with this photo I took this afternoon.
Of course, the draft won't start for another few hours (as of now, three and a half hours -- yeah, I got here at noon. Side note, I just walked around and enjoyed the scenery inside the arena for about an hour when I got here. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning!), but we already know who will have his named called first: Anthony Davis, center from Kentucky.
After that, well, who knows?
This I do know: I will be here all night covering the draft for SB Nation Boston, including the Boston Celtics' three (at the moment) selections: No. 21 overall, No. 22 overall and No. 51 overall. I'll be live Tweeting the draft (@GethinCoolbaugh) and posting updates all night right here, so be sure to check back frequently! Get ready, NBA fans. This will be fun.
