The Tradition 2012: Robert Parish, Pedro Martinez Among Those Being Honored At Annual Celebration

When you're great, you need a celebration, and not just an everyday celebration. That's why New England has The Tradition, the annual celebration of the rich tradition of the area's tremendous athletes, which takes place Wednesday.

When you're great, you need a big celebration for it, and I'm not just talking about championship parades. No, that's not how we do it in Boston, the greatest sports city on the planet. Here, we don't just have parades to honor our great athletes, we have an entirely different ceremony to do so. It's sort of a tradition around here. Actually, it's The Tradition.

Entering its 11th year, the greatest of the greats in Boston sports history will be honored at The Tradition, the annual celebration of the rich tradition of Boston and New England sports, which takes place on Wednesday night inside TD Garden.

This year's honorees include the legendary Robert Parish of the Boston Celtics, Pedro Martinez of the Boston Red Sox and Rodney Harrison of the New England Patriots. In addition, Alexi Lalas from the New England Revolution, Chris Ernst (a former Olympic rower) and Boston Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs will also be honored at the event.

General admission tickets cost $200 with reserve seating tickets going for $300. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Ticket and general information can be found here.
