NBA Mock Draft 2012: Celtics Select Moe Harkless And Fab Melo

The 2012 NBA Draft is less than two weeks away, but it's an important date for the recently-eliminated Boston Celtics – who own two late first round picks.

On paper, this year's draft is much deeper than 2011, and there will assuredly be plenty of talent available when the Celtics select at 21 and 22.

Jonathan Givony, of DraftExpress.com, recently published a mock draft for Yahoo! Sports. Here's who he has the Celtics taking:

21. Boston
Moe Harkless SF
19 years old; 6'8"; 208 lbs., St. John's, Freshman

The Celtics are ushering in a new era, with a big chunk of their roster entering free agency and a great deal of cap room opening up. Danny Ainge has never had a problem swinging for the fences for a talented prospect with significant long-term upside, and Moe Harkless fits that description perfectly.

22. Boston (via LA Clippers)
Fab Melo C
21 years old; 7'0"; 250 lbs., Syracuse, Sophomore

Boston's entire frontcourt is entering free agency seemingly, making a physically developed 7-footer like Fab Melo an attractive proposition at this stage in the draft. His defensive mentality will fit in well with Boston's culture.
