Avery Bradley Injury Update: Celtics Guard's Left Shoulder 'Went Out'

Boston Celtics second-year guard Avery Bradley suffered a shoulder injury in the second half on Friday with 2:06 to play in the third quarter of Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Atlanta Hawks. The team called the injury a "sore left shoulder."

After the game, Celtics head coach Doc Rivers offered this update on Bradley's condition.

"[His] shoulder went out," Rivers said. "And he's had that problem all year. Usually they're able to, like a leg, snap it back in. It wouldn't go back in. We'll find out more tomorrow."

Bradley played nearly 25 minutes in Boston's 90-84 overtime win, totaling five points and four rebounds. Bradley is now averaging 9.7 points and 2.7 rebounds this postseason.

Should Bradley be unable to play in Game 4, which takes place Sunday night at TD Garden, Ray Allen would likely slide back into the starting lineup. Allen returned to the Celtics' lineup for this first time since April 10 on Friday and had 13 points in 36 minutes.

Allen has been a starter for most of his career, but doesn't mind coming off the bench.

"I never really worried about whether I was starting or coming off the bench," said Allen. "I think starting is obviously an ego thing. You say you are a starter but for the longest time since I've played this game the biggest compliment was the 5 guys that finished the game. I know Avery went down, we have a day and a half to rest and prepare for Sunday. And I'm pretty sure he'll recover and if not we have, if you look at our bench from (Mickael) Pietrus to Sasha (Pavlovic) to Marquis (Daniels), all three of those guys over the past couple months or so have played well. Whether Doc started me or not doesn't make a difference."
