The Boston Celtics trail the Philadelphia 76ers, 50-47, at halftime in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals on Monday at the TD Garden.
This was a back and forth game for most of the first half until the Sixers were able to build a small cushion with about four minutes to go in the second quarter. The C's, led by Kevin Garnett's 10 second quarter points, hit enough shots to keep the game within reach down the stretch. The Sixers had the last shot of the half but couldn't extend their lead past three points.
The Sixers had an advantage on the boards although both teams shot a fairly high percentage. Boston had a big edge at the free throw by going 9-13 while the Sixers are just 1-2.
Elton Brand leads Philadelphia with 12 points and Jrue Holiday has chipped in 10 points. Kevin Garnett leads Boston with 14 points. Paul Pierce has nine points and Greg Stiemsma has been a super sub with eight points on 4-4 shooting. He also a block in 7 minutes of action.
