Paul Pierce Injury Update: Sprained MCL Not Getting Worse But Not Healing Either, Says Doc Rivers

The good news is Paul Pierce's sprained MCL isn't likely to get any worse. The bad news is it isn't getting any better.

Doc Rivers told WEEI's Dennis & Callahan show Tuesday that the hectic 2012 NBA Playoffs schedule has not afforded Pierce's sprained left MCL any time to improve.

"He's not hurting himself, I guess I'll answer it that way," Rivers said. "But he's probably not healing either. ... Right now, we have a lot of guys that are banged up and we have to get through it. We didn't play well last night and it had nothing to do with injuries."

After scoring just seven points on 2-9 shooting in Game 2, Pierce called his knee "fine."

But Rivers added, "Paul clearly is not 100 percent."
