Ray Allen, Paul Pierce Injury Updates: Allen Regresses, Pierce Will Play Through Pain

The Boston Celtics survived a tough series with the Atlanta Hawks to reach the second round of the 2012 NBA Playoffs. But the Celtics who will meet the Philadelphia 76ers in round two are a bit beaten up.

Per WEEI, Ray Allen (bone spurs in his ankle) said he hit a setback within the past couple days and his pain level, which had substantially reduced in the days prior, is back to being where it was two weeks ago. Two weeks ago, Allen was unable to suit up and wasn't sure he would appear in the NBA playoffs at all. He's considered day-to-day at the beginning of the second round.

Paul Pierce is also feeling pain, his stemming from a sprained MCL. Pierce looked more spry in Game 6 than he had in Game 5, but noted Friday at the team's media availability that he expects to play through pain for the remainder of Boston's postseason run. He said he'll play in Game 1 against the 76ers on Saturday night.
