Celtics Trade Rumors: Danny Ainge Says No Trades In The Works

Danny Ainge isn't expecting to make any trades. At least, that's what the general manager of the Boston Celtics said in an interview on the WEEI Sports Radio Network Thursday with the NBA trade deadline less than one week away.

"As of right now we have nothing close to happening," he said. "It's not from a lack of trying. Not necessarily to make major changes, but to make small changes at least." (via WEEI)

Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo have all been part of trade rumors at different points this season. Rondo was originally rumored to be part of a package to acquire then-New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul and had his name pop up in rumors recently in a possible trade for Pau Gasol. Garnett has been tied to the Atlanta Hawks (for Josh Smith) while reports have pegged Pierce as the likeliest Celtic to be on the move.

Another rumor is veteran C's center Jermaine O'Neal being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for former No. 2 overall pick, Michael Beasley, but O'Neal's wrist injury may put a hamper on that one (if it even existed in the first place). Ainge isn't sure about what he will do with O'Neal, who is contemplating wrist surgery.

"I'm not sure. I haven't decided yet what I'm going to do with Jermaine and what he wants to do," Ainge said. "Jermaine and I have been in constant contact and we'll keep communicating over the next week or so."

Asked if he could trade O'Neal contract, Ainge said that it was "more unlikely than likely." (via WEEI)

The official trade deadline is at 3:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday, March 15.
