The Boston Celtics visit the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night in a battle for Atlantic Division supremacy.
Boston has trailed in the division standings for most of the season, but has a chance to leap Philadelphia with a victory Wednesday. A win would give the Celtics the division lead by percentage points.
If momentum matters in basketball, the Celtics carry an advantage. They have won their past five outings, including consecutive overtime thrillers against the Knicks and Rockets. Trailing by 10 points in the fourth quarter Tuesday night against Houston, Boston ran off a late run to force overtime, then outscored the Rockets 13-8 in the extra session.
It's important that Boston is thriving now, since the middle third of March brings a perilous schedule composed of eight straight road games, including tilts against the Lakers, Clippers, Nuggets, Hawks and 76ers.
The Sixers have lost eight out of 10, dropping several close games as they struggle to find crunch time scoring.
