Paul Pierce of the Boston Celtics was reportedly offered up in a trade to the Portland Trail Blazers, according to a report from Chris Broussard of ESPN.com (via WEEI.com). The report did not specify what the Celtics were looking for in exchange for Pierce.
Comparing the two rosters, it would be tough to find a solid match for a Pierce deal. Pierce, who is owed $32 million over two years, would likely not be enough to land star forward LaMarcus Aldridge, and he would be the only player worthy of a deal for the captain.
Pierce has stayed clear from most rumors during this year's trade season, but has had his name mentioned in some reports. One report indicated that Pierce was the likeliest Celtics player to be moved, but did not specify to where.
Pierce is averaging 18.4 points, 5.2 assists and 4.8 rebounds in 38 games this season.
