Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week Monday after averaging 22.0 points, 6.3 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game to lead his team's 4-0 week, the league announced.
Pierce struggled at the beginning of the year due to a heel injury that allowed him to participate in just one preseason practice, but has worked himself back into shape quickly as his conditioning gets better.
His lines from the week:
- Tuesday vs. Cleveland Cavaliers: 20 points, six assists, four rebounds, 8-12 shooting
- Wednesday vs. Toronto Raptors: 17 points, eight assists, six rebounds, 4-6 3-pt shooting
- Friday vs. New York Knicks: 30 points, seven rebounds, five assists, 4-10 3-pt shooting, 10-12 free throws
- Sunday vs. Memphis Grizzlies: 21 points, six rebounds, six assists
San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker was named Western Conference Player of the Week.
