Wow, Delonte. If you thought Delonte West was just kidding around about his financial troubles, guess again. West, who has had two stints with the Boston Celtics, signed with the defending NBA champion Dallas Mavericks this season. You would think that having Mark Cuban as an owner would ensure your financial stability to some degree. I guess not.
West has made more than $14 million in his career, but during the lockout he sold off his cars, jewelry, and was living in the Mavericks locker room for a while, he told the Dallas Morning News (via IamaGM). (via Pro Basketball Talk)
Again, wow. West said that he had a place to stay when the Mavs traveled, but at home, he had to sleep wherever he could. West even mentioned that he had slept in his car at points. A sad story for a talented player. West is having a decent season in Dallas this year, averaging 8.3 points and 3.4 assists.
