After the Oklahoma City Thunder's Kevin Durant, the coach of the West team in the NBA All-Star Celebrity game, talked a little smack to start the game, the East team coach, Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard, put him in his place. The West team not only won the game, but they ran away with it by a score of 86-54 in Orlando.
The game was played at a leisurely pace and was more about fun than basketball, but there were some impressive performances. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, who often plays basketball with President Obama, led the West team to victory with 17 points and eight rebounds and was awarded the game MVP award, which was won last year by Justin Bieber. Comedian Kevin Hart, who showed that he barely comes up to Howard's shoulder blades before the game, also entertained the crowd with crazy on-court antics and guaranteed that he would score 40 points and bring down 10 rebounds before the game.
This was just one of many entertaining events throughout the NBA's All-Star Weekend as the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge immediately followed, the NBA's shooting and dunking contests are Saturday and the game itself is Sunday.
