Ray Allen Injury: Celtics' Allen Suffers Ankle Injury, Will Not Return

Ray Allen suffered a jammed left ankle in the first half of the Boston Celtics' game against the Washington Wizards on Sunday afternoon at the Verizon Center. Allen, who suffered the injury in the second quarter, limped off the court with the team trainer and headed straight for the locker room. More on his condition will likely be known after the game.

Allen scored seven points on 3-of-5 shooting in 11 minutes before suffering the injury. Entering the game on Sunday, Allen was the Celtics' leading scorer, averaging 15.5 points, while also averaging 3.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 13 games.

Injuries have really taken a toll on the Celtics, who are now missing two of their five starters. In addition to Allen, starting point guard Rajon Rondo (sore right wrist) has also missed the team's last two games. Also, reserves Keyon Dooling and Chris Wilcox have been setback with injuries in recent weeks.
