Austin Ainge Leaves Maine Red Claws, Joins Boston Celtics' Front Office

Austin Ainge, the son of Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge who has served as the head coach of the Maine Red Claws of the D-League for the past two seasons, has left his position with the Red Claws and will rejoin the Celtics front office as Director of Player Personnel.

"I am sorry to see Austin go but happy for him in his new position with the Celtics," Red Claws president and general manager Jon Jennings said via press release. "All of us with the Red Claws enjoyed working with Austin. No one worked harder and was more committed to making our players better. He will be missed. We wish Austin, Crystal and his boys the best going forward." (via WEEI)

Ainge led Boston's D-League to a 27-23 record in the team's first season in 2009-10, tying a record for most wins by an expansion team. This season, Ainge and the Red Claws posted a sub-par 18-32 record and finished fifth in the division.
