Washington Wizards guard John Wall scored 12 points and had a Rookie Challenge record 22 assists as the Rookies defeated the Sophomores, 148-140, in the NBA All-Star Rookie Challenge on Friday night in Los Angeles.

Wall, the game's MVP, was reunited with former University of Kentucky teammate and current Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins, who finished with a game-high 33 points and 14 rebounds.

The play of the game featured a pass off the backboard from Cousins to Wall, which he slammed home with 12.8 seconds remaining in the game.

"Coach told us to run a couple of plays, but we knew our team was going to push the ball, and I know (Cousins) can finish," Wall said. (via Associated Press/USA Today)

Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin had 14 points and sat on the bench for the final 12:25 of the game, despite chants of "We want Blake" from the crowd.

Oklahoma City Thunder forward James Harden scored 30 points and San Antonio Spurs forward DeJuan Blair finished with 28 points and 15 rebounds to pace the Sophomores.

Kings guard Tyreke Evans, who scored 26 points en route to an MVP award with the rookies last season, did not play for the Sophomores on Friday night due to an injured left foot.
