According to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe (via Twitter), the Boston Celtics and veteran forward Chris Wilcox have agreed to a one-year contract for the league veteran's minimum. The agreement comes on the day the team begins their training camp.
Wilcox played for the Detroit Pistons last season, where he averaged 7.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game last season. The nine-year NBA veteran will provide the Celtics with much needed bench depth as they continue to fill out their roster for the upcoming season. Wilcox is a forward/center hybrid that is very nimble at 6-8 and 235 pounds. While he isn't a tremendous defender, he does give the Celtics an offensive threat, especially on fast breaks.
Wilcox joins a Celtic bench that is beginning to take shape as he joins now Brandon Bass, Keyon Dooling, Marquis Daniels with rookies JaJuan Johnson, E'Twuan Moore and Gilbert Brown. With the addition of Wilcox, look for the Celtics to continue to be active on the free agency front in the upcoming days.
