Mickael Pietrus Reportedly Offered Contract By Boston Celtics

All signs point to Mickael Pietrus joining the Boston Celtics once he clears waivers on Saturday night, as a report in the Boston Globe indicates that the Celtics have offered the veteran swingman a contract.

While a 7-footer doesn't appear likely, at least in the near future, the Celtics might be getting a player to add to their rotation, Mickael Pietrus. The 6-foot-6-inch, 215-pound Pietrus agreed to a buyout with the Suns and is now in the NBA's two-day waiver period (which would expire at 6 p.m. today) before deciding whether to accept Boston's offer. Pietrus is reportedly leaning towards signing with the Celtics if he is not claimed by another team, according to sources of A. Sherrod Blakely of Comcast SportsNet New England. Pietrus would provide the C's with a solid option to back up Paul Pierce after Jeff Green was sidelined for the season with an aortic aneurysm.
