Celtics Free Agency 2011: Mickael Pietrus Headed To Boston?

Mickael Pietrus may be heading to the Boston Celtics, as a report from A. Sherrod Blakely of Comcast SportsNet New England indicates that Pietrus -- who was waived by the Phoenix Suns -- is leaning towards signing with Boston.

Mickael Pietrus, recently released by the Phoenix Suns, is leaning "heavily" towards signing with the Boston Celtics, according to a league source. (via CSNNE.com)

The Celtics had been rumored to be interested in adding Pietrus prior to the NBA Lockout. In order for Pietrus to sign outright with the Celtics, he will have to clear waivers. That won't happen until 6 p.m. EDT on Saturday evening.

Pietrus' agent, Bill McCandless, would not comment on whether or not his client prefers to join the Celtics, but he did indicate that Pietrus is looking to hop on with a playoff team.

"He's only 29, so he's not like Charles Barkley or some other older players running around, chasing a championship," McCandless said. "But he wants to be with a playoff team, and have a chance to contribute."
