Boston Celtics Training Camp 2011: C's Wrap Up Day Three In Waltham

WALTHAM - The Boston Celtics wrapped up their third official practice of training camp on Sunday afternoon at Healthpoint, with injuries to Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo and the lack of players in attendance stealing the spotlight.

Pierce suffered a right heel injury on Saturday and is officially day-to-day while Rondo sprained his right ankle during Sunday's practice, but neither injury appears to be serious.

"Rondo sprained his ankle in the middle of practice, thats why we had to rest in the middle of the practice and didnt have a big scrimmage," said Celtics head coach Doc Rivers. "That's ok, were just going to keep working on it."

Rivers didn't specify how many players attended practice, but Pierce, Rondo, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Jermaine O'Neal, Marquis Daniels, Chris Wilcox, Keyon Dooling, Jeff Green and Avery Bradley were all seen on the court at the end of practice. Greg Stiemsma, who the team signed on Dec. 9, was also participating in practice.

Despite being three days into training camp, Rivers said he and the team haven't truly begun.

"As far as I'm concerned, we havent started camp yet," Rivers said. "We're just doing preseason work. The good thing is is when everyone gets here we can just start all over again because you have to so everyone is running on the same pace."

"[We're] working on conditioning. No we're just breaking it down 3-on-3, 2-on-2, 1-on-1. We did a ton of 3-on-3 work, breaking our offenses down, we did a lot of pick and roll defenses with 4-on-4. We can still have a practice, we just haven't have a scrimmage yet. Three days in a row we have yet to go up and down with 5-on-5. Aas far as I'm concerned, it's three days that we've missed and counting."

Chris Wilcox spoke to the media following Sunday's practice and talked about what it's like to practice with Kevin Garnett and play with a contender. Ray Allen also spent a good amount of time talking with reporters.

More to come from C's camp as the day and week goes on. The team returns to the practice court at 2 p.m. EDT on Monday and Celtics Media Day is scheduled for Tuesday.
