NBA Trade Rumors 2011: Celtics Working On Sign-And-Trade For Hornets' David West

Just a few days after trading for forward Brandon Bass, the Boston Celtics seem to be looking to add another piece to their frontcourt, as Nola.com reported Saturday night that the New Orleans Hornets and Celtics are working on a sign-and-trade deal for All-Star forward David West. The deal reportedly will feature the Celtics shipping forward Jermaine O'Neal to New Orleans.

"If they've got a chance to make the team better in their opinion," O'Neal told the Worcester Telegraph after practice Saturday , "they'll make a trade. You can't control those types of things. You just show up and come to work and focus on that."

If the two-time All Star is traded to Boston, he would be in competing for playing time against future Hall-of-Famer Kevin Garnett and Bass.

West, 31, is looking rebound from a tough 2010-11 season that featured him suffering an ACL injury that required reconstructive knee surgery. Last season, West did play in 70 games and averaged 18.9 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game.
