Rajon Rondo To Be Traded For Chris Paul? Celtics And Hornets In Talks

Rajon Rondo's days with the Boston Celtics may be coming to an end, as Sports Illustrated reports that the C's are looking into a trade that would send Rondo to the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for superstar point guard Chris Paul.

Rajon Rondo's days with the Boston Celtics may be coming to an end, as Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated is reporting that the C's are looking into a trade that would send Rondo to the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for superstar point guard Chris Paul.

Amick writes that Celtics GM Danny Ainge is looking to upgrade from Rondo to a point guard that could help ease the scoring load for Paul Pierce, and is targeting Paul first and foremost. However, the Hornets are reportedly not interested in a straight up trade and Ainge is looking for a third team to provide the Hornets with the youth they need.

Rondo is a one-time NBA champion, helping to lead the Celtics to a championship in 2008. Rondo was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in 2006 and was immediately traded to Boston. In five seasons, Rondo has averaged 10.7 points, 7.6 assists and 1.9 steals. Last season, Rondo averaged 10.6 points and a career-high 11.2 assists.

Paul, on the other hand, has never won an NBA championship, but is considered one of the elite talents in the game. Paul, drafted No. 4 overall by the Hornets in 2005, has played six seasons in the NBA, has averaged 18.7 points, 9.9 assists and 2.4 steals in 425 career games.
