Kendrick Perkins Confident Celtics' Center Job Is His

Although he's not expected on the court until at least 2011, Kendrick Perkins doesn't feel like his job as starting center for the Celtics is in jeopardy.

He made that clear during Celtics' media day, despite the Celtics' offseason signings of Jermaine O'Neal and Shaquille O'Neal, both long-established centers.

"But, really, my spot is not up for grabs. So when I come back I will be in my spot, everybody else will just have to adjust to me after that."

An ESPN.com report also discusses how Perkins is confident that his rehabilitation from surgery to repair a torn ACL this summer is going well and that he is "a little bit ahead of schedule."

Far enough ahead, apparently, for Perkins to even putback a loose ball while on his way from interview to interview.
