Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara was named a second-team NHL All-Star on Wednesday at the 2012 NHL Awards, the sixth time he has been named to one of the postseason All-Star teams.
Chara has been named to the first team twice, and this is his fourth time on the second team. He scored 12 goals to go with 40 assists for a career-high 52 points this past regular season as the Bruins reached the first round of the NHL playoffs. During the first round against Washington, Chara managed three points, all of them coming in a 4-3 Game 3 win.
The 35-year old led all defenseman for the 2011-12 season with a plus-33 rating. He played in the All-Star Game at midseason for the sixth time in his career, and was a team captain.
