Greg Zanon scored his first goal as a member of the Bruins and Anton Khudobin continued his strong play in between the Boston pipes as the Bruins increased their lead to 2-0 courtesy of a Zanon slapshot from the point early in the second period at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa on Thursday night.
A holding call against David Krejci produced a second Senators power play, but again Ottawa was unable to capitalize on the advantage, even though Daniel Paille spent the last 30 seconds of the kill playing without his stick.
A strong move into the middle of the ice by Jason Spezza created a chance off a deflection that Khudobin got his blocker on but wasn't able to keep out of the net just before the 14 minutes mark of the period, and Ottawa seemed to get some momentum from the goal, but couldn't find a way to even the score.
